According to town officials, “any tree debris that is near the roads that the Department of Public Works and Eversource crews cut and cleared to open the roads was noted and will be picked up by the Bethel DPW and contractors in the next two weeks.
Motorists have advised to use extra caution when driving through town where trees were felled. “DPW crews will get to those areas to finish the cleanup, but it will take time.”
All roads were cleared and the Bethel Public School District remains on a normal schedule, though certain bus stops have been temporarily changed, officials noted. As of 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 34,173 of Eversource’s 1,270,056 customers - including 565 in Bethel - remain without power, with an estimated restoration date of approximately midnight.
